Devoted to research and dissemination of information about Russian social sciences, particularly anthropology and sociology, including the study of Russian ethnic groups originating from the former Soviet Union, whatever their present location. Our library is open to an international community of scholars, and interested laymen. A California non-profit, tax-exempt educational and research institution, incorporated in the state of California since 1969.

The Dunns
Representing The Station, the Dunns have presented papers at more than 25 national and international conferences. Over the years, by supporting the Dunns' work, The Station has created a body of Russian social science material in English which can serve as the basis of courses in anthropology and sociology, and can be used as comparative material in a variety of courses.
Stephen P. Dunn has a Ph.D. in cultrual anthropology from Columbia University. He is editor emeritus of two translation journals: Soviet Anthropology and Archelogy (Anthropology and Archeology of Eurasia), and Soviet Sociology (Sociological Research), which he edited for more than 25 years. He has authored or co-authored well over 100 articles on the peoples and cultures of the Soviet Union.
Ethel Dunn has a M.A. in history and a Certificate from the Russian Institute at Columbia University. She has written over 100 articles on the Soviet Union.
A portion of their Street Corner Democracy was reprinted in Marvin Perry, Joseph R. Penden, and Theodore von Laue, eds., Sources of the Western Tradition, second edition, 1991, Volume 2, pages 417-421. Professor Gregory Grossman (University of California, Berkeley) calls Volume 7, "The Struggle to Survive," "facinating ... (and) ... a valuable contribution to materials for contemporary history."
